Easthampton Musician MorgensLifeLens Uses AI Technology to Overcome Rare Deafness and Share Powerful Stories Through Song Easthampton songwriter Morgen Horner uses AI voice technology to continue making music after seizure-related brain damage caused the rare hearing disorder Amusia.

EASTHAMPTON, MA / ACCESS Newswire / March 11, 2026 / Independent musician MorgensLifeLens, the artistic project of Easthampton songwriter Morgen Horner, is redefining what it means to create music in the face of neurological disability. Despite living with brain damage caused by seizures that led to a rare hearing disorder known as Amusia, Horner continues to write and release emotionally powerful music using innovative artificial intelligence tools.

Often referred to as "tone deafness," Amusia affects a person's ability to perceive pitch, melody, and musical tone. For Horner, the condition developed after seizure-related brain damage, fundamentally changing her relationship with sound and music. Rather than ending her artistic path, the diagnosis pushed her to experiment with new technology.

To bring her songs to life, Horner writes all of her lyrics independently and then works with a digitally cloned version of her own voice, combined with AI-generated instrumentation, to produce her music. This hybrid approach allows her to translate the music she imagines into fully realized recordings despite the neurological barriers affecting her perception of tone and pitch.

"My lyrics have always been the center of my music," Horner explains. "Even when my brain changed the way I hear music, it didn't change the stories I want to tell."

Through MorgensLifeLens, Horner hopes to demonstrate how emerging technology can expand accessibility in the music industry. She believes artificial intelligence can serve as a creative tool for artists living with disabilities such as hearing loss, tone perception disorders, speech impairments, or neurological conditions that make traditional music production difficult.

"I want people to see that technology can open doors," Horner says. "Artists with different forms of deafness or speech limitations still have something powerful to say. AI can help us turn those ideas into real music."

The music released under MorgensLifeLens is known for deeply personal and socially conscious lyricism. Her songs explore themes including:

Mental health struggles and recovery

Chronic and neurological illness

Trauma and healing

Online harassment and social pressures

Broader social issues affecting communities today

Horner's writing often draws from her own lived experiences, transforming difficult personal realities into intimate narrative-driven alt-pop and indie-inspired songs.

Despite facing significant economic hardship - currently living at roughly five times below the poverty line in Massachusetts - Horner continues to pursue music with determination and resilience.

"Music is how I make sense of the world," she says. "No matter how difficult things get, creating songs is still the thing that keeps me going."

Through MorgensLifeLens, Horner hopes her music can reach people who feel unseen or unheard and inspire conversations about disability, mental health, and resilience.

"I want my music to remind people they're not alone," Horner says. "If my story can help even one person keep going, then every song is worth it."

Music by MorgensLifeLens is currently available on major streaming platforms including YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music.
