Why the World's Screen-Time Boom Is Fueling a $7.5 Trillion Hospitality Surge, And What It Means for How Families Reunite BOSTON--( BUSINESS WIRE)--The global hospitality industry is on a tear, and the reasons run deeper than a post-pandemic rebound. Market research projects the sector will reach roughly $5.8 trillion by the end of 2026 and climb to $7.5 trillion by 2030, a steady 6.4% annual growth rate that shows no sign of slowing.

Joshua Marc Hebert, CEO and founder of Magellan Jets, has watched this trend build over 26 years in luxury hospitality and private aviation, and he has a plain-spoken theory about what's driving it.

Joshua Marc Hebert, CEO and founder of Magellan Jets, has watched this trend build over 26 years in luxury hospitality and private aviation, and he has a plain-spoken theory about what's driving it.

For Magellan Jets, that shift is showing up in the changing behaviors of private flyers. The company built its reputation as a roadshow operator, moving executives to two cities a day across a seven-day stretch, and that business remains strong. But a newer pattern is emerging: families using private aviation as a tool to close distance.

"We live on our devices now. Netflix, Prime, Apple TV, Hulu, video games, the phone in your pocket. People spend enormous parts of their lives on a screen. The more time we spend there, the more we value the opposite: real time, with real people, outside the four walls where all that screen time happens. That's what hospitality sells. And that's why it keeps growing,” said Hebert. “It's hard for grandparents to travel to their kids and grandkids, and it's often just as hard for the family to make the trip the other way, so we bring them together. And here's the honest truth about grandkids, when their parents say, 'we're going to visit your grandparents,' they don't always jump for joy. But when the grandparents send a private jet, the answer is always yes. Private aviation is a tool. For our roadshow clients, it's a tool for productivity. For our families, it's a tool for connection. As the world spends more of its life looking at a screen, the value of getting people into the same room only goes up. That's the trend, and I don't see it reversing."

The pandemic accelerated the shift, but did not create it. The lockdown years taught a generation what it costs to be kept apart, but the upward trend was already underway well before 2020. What COVID did was sharpen the appetite for shared experiences that a screen can never replace.

In Hebert’s view, this is what modern hospitality has become. Not a hotel room or a restaurant table, but a means to buy back the one thing screens have made scarce: time together.
