Spark Biomedical Expands Leadership Team to Speed Commercialization
New executives bring deep experience in finance, manufacturing, sales, and marketing
DALLAS, Oct. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Spark Biomedical, a commercial-stage bioelectronic medicine company pioneering non-invasive multi-path neurostimulation devices, announced the addition of three industry veterans who have guided companies to market success.
The new team brings the experience to advance Spark's strategic priorities — developing multi-channel sales, expanding manufacturing capacity, and putting in place the financial and governance systems required for the company's next phase of growth.
"This team will build on the solid foundation of science and technology created by founders Navid Khodaparast and Alejandro Covalin," said Anja Krammer, Spark CEO. "That foundation, paired with the new leadership team, is how we drive commercial success — bringing the capital-markets, commercial, and manufacturing muscle to accelerate growth across every channel we serve."
Ric Peterson has been named Chief Financial Officer, Tom Futch is Spark's new Executive Vice President of Growth, and Jeff Jones is the company's new Executive Vice President of Manufacturing Operations. The company also announced the elevation of Amy Gaston to Vice President of Marketing.
Ric Peterson, Chief Financial Officer
Peterson is a capital-markets CFO who has led finance, IR, BD, and M&A through IPOs and capital raises across public and private life-science companies. As EVP, CFO and Treasurer of Medicis Pharmaceutical, he guided the company from private to public markets, through growth, and through its sale. A former PricewaterhouseCoopers professional and director of Universal Insurance Holdings, Inc., Peterson will put in place Spark's financial and governance systems for its next phase of growth.
Tom Futch, Executive Vice President of Growth
Futch is a commercial growth leader with more than two decades of building go-to-market engines across wearables, digital health, and medical device, including senior roles at Johnson & Johnson and Medtronic. He revitalized BodyMedia ahead of a major exit, drove multi-fold growth at Weight Watchers Health Solutions, and most recently served as CCO at Little Otter Health. At Spark, he will lead commercial growth across public-sector, hospital, and defense/first-responder channels.
Jeff Jones, Executive Vice President of Manufacturing Operations
Jones is a manufacturing scale-up executive with more than three decades of taking medical devices from prototype to high-volume production under FDA quality systems (21 CFR Part 820 / ISO 13485). He has served as COO at Neuronetics, Cutera, Benvenue Medical, Reliant Technologies (Fraxel), and Lumend, with senior operations roles at Sientra, Earlens, and Acclarent (J&J). At Spark, he will scale manufacturing for Sparrow Ascent®, HAWK, and the expanding tAN® portfolio.
Amy Gaston, Vice President of Marketing
Gaston built the brand, partnerships, and advocacy that established OhmBody as a visible pillar of the Company. She will now lead marketing across Spark's full Neuro-Behavioral, Neuro-Vascular, and Neuro-Immune platform. Amy's elevation puts our brand capability behind every product and channel.
Khodaparast and Covalin continue to lead clinical evidence and platform innovation for Sparrow Ascent®, HAWK, and the expanding tAN® pipeline. The team pairs commercial, financial, and manufacturing capability with the scientific foundation that has delivered FDA clearance, reimbursement pathways, and a multi-pillar product roadmap.
