LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESS Newswire / April 5, 2026 / It was in Manila, Phillippines where Chey found himself spiritually broken. His first film he directed at age 29 for Universal that was the number one movie on USA Networks still did not make him happy.
So in the hotel room, he contemplated suicide.
"I had just come from partying all night," said Chey. "I was morally and spiritually bankrupt."
What followed was a minor nervous breakdown that shook Chey to his core.
He reached for a Gideon's Bible and the rest is history.
"I got on my knees and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ," he continues.
Chey then went back to Hollywood and told his agents about making films for Jesus. They promptly dumped him.
Timothy Chey would go on to direct 18 more movies - all faith-based that have reached over 80 million homes including ‘Epic Journey' that took him to 29 countries of people who found Jesus in remarkable ways. The film premiered on Daystar TV.
Chey is a Harvard alumnus and also practices pro-bono law winning several prominent cases in both state and federal court. He's considered the ‘Batman' of litigators and has beaten Fortune 500 company lawyers. "I always pray to the Lord before filing each suit," Chey says. "They must help our society and I put Christ first in everything."
"I think he's one of the top litigation attorneys because he learned to be aggressive directing all the movies he's done," said a partner at a large law firm. "Kudos to him. He's sharper than anyone I've ever met, but one of the kindest people you will ever know. He's not a bully at all."
Chey is also the son of the founder of a major bank that went public on Wall Street and made a fortune. "My dad did not receive Christ until he was 92. It was amazing how he finally got what happened at the Cross. He never understood sin. He was into making money his entire life."
Chey's new Noah's Ark movie remake - ‘The Flood: End of Mankind' - hits theaters nationwide in October this year.
It's been over 25 years since Chey found Jesus in a hotel room and, 18 movies later, he smiles and says 'it is well with my soul.'
'The Flood: End of Mankind' - in theaters October 1, 2026.
