Marquis Who's Who Honors Fletcher Korfhage-Poret for Expertise in Education and Learning Innovation
UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / January 28, 2026 / Marquis Who's Who honors Fletcher Korfhage-Poret for his expertise in education and learning innovation. As a learning specialist, curriculum developer and education entrepreneur, Mr. Korfhage-Poret has built a career based on his lifelong innate curiosity and passion for sharing self-directed discovery. He has dedicated nearly two decades to empowering students by teaching them to strengthen their executive functioning (EF) skills and become independent learners. Today, he is expanding his work to explore how students, parents and educators must prepare as technology and artificial intelligence (AI) transform education and our world.
About Fletcher Korfhage-Poret
Mr. Korfhage-Poret is the founder, curriculum developer and learning specialist at 1 st Principles Learning, where he and his team provide interdisciplinary personalized instruction and tutoring for both K-12 and higher education in all academic subjects, test preparation and EF coaching. The latest addition to his work offers guidance for responsible, ethical and safe AI-human learning. He also continues to offer services with MyLDTutor, a private tutoring company he founded in 2011 in New York City, through which he established expertise in assessing individual cognitive profiles to create practical systems that nurture unique processing styles, executive functioning skills and personality.
Mr. Korfhage-Poret's approach teaches students to embrace learning differences, empowering them with effective strategies and tools to accommodate learning. This promotes the autonomy and structure necessary for taking ownership of the educational journey to become self-sufficient, self-advocating and critical-thinking decision makers in learning and beyond.
Mr. Korfhage-Poret is now committed to expanding the reach of his philosophy, passing it down to the next generation of passionate educators and tutors. He is currently developing an open-access resource and learning hub, fletcherporet.com, where students, parents and educators can find supportive tools for learning and EF development, subject-specific guidance, adaptive assignments and skill-building exercises, among others.
Perhaps most imperative is the inclusion of AI literacy. Mr. Korfhage-Poret believes it is critical to understand how AI-human learning works and why it must be approached strategically-with discipline, customization and intentional prompting-to safeguard cognitive development, bolster EF skills and productivity, and promote only self-directed learning, rather than dependence.
A Lifelong Drive Toward Knowledge
Mr. Korfhage-Poret's path into education began with a fascination with how things work; like many children, he was captivated by a sense of wonder, constantly asking "why?" and "how?" until he reached the threshold of understanding. This drive toward knowledge was nurtured by constant exploration of his surroundings. The thrill of drawing insight from patterns and systems discovered through keen observation fuels his inspiration for learning to this day.
After graduating with honors from Amherst Regional High School in Massachusetts, Mr. Korfhage-Poret attended Tulane University, where he took the most rigorous course load available but did not feel as inspired as he had hoped. After his freshman year, he moved to Brooklyn, New York, to live in a family building constructed by his great-grandfather in 1935. This building symbolized a true American dream success story, for which he was recognized by Marquis Who's Who as a prominent American Builder.
At 19 years old, this legacy and the three generations of family who had lived there before him were an inspiration to Mr. Korfhage-Poret. He took a year off from his formal education and worked at Citibank Business Planning on Wall Street before returning to school at Brooklyn College in 2001, where he earned a 4.0 GPA. During this time, he also applied to The New School's Eugene Lang College, a school that supports interdisciplinary personalized education and fosters agency through small, active, seminar-based classes with differentiated, writing-intensive assignments and individualized degree paths.
While earning enough credits for degrees in non-fiction writing and education, Mr. Korfhage-Poret also managed The New School writing center that served all undergraduate and graduate divisions-except for the prestigious graduate school for social research-and was offered the director position at age 23. Despite these accomplishments, what meant most to him was being endowed with ownership of his learning, which imbued him with the confidence and flexibility to pursue a future driven by his passion, ethics and on his own terms.
Turning a Love of Learning Into a Career
In 2004, Mr. Korfhage-Poret co-founded his first tutoring business, Lotus Writing Tutors, supporting college liberal arts and graduate students writing their theses across the NYU consortium of higher education, of which The New School is a part. Over the next several years, he was credited in numerous published articles and contributed to "LD SAT" (Penguin/Random House, 2009), a first-of-its-kind test-prep guide designed for those with learning differences. He also co-wrote a screenplay for a short film, which won three awards at the NY International Independent Film and Video Festival in 2006, including best screenplay.
Additionally, Mr. Korfhage-Poret co-authored two fiction novels, with one, "Babylon's Tablet of Destiny," winning a silver medal at the 2009 Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPY). These early experiences were seminal in shaping his love of teaching. More importantly, this was when he began to understand the importance of imbuing students with the skills for how to learn, not simply what to learn or how to present it.
In 2025, Mr. Korfhage-Poret relocated to San Diego. He continues to inspire young minds and support adults and professionals in reaching their academic and career goals as he builds his educational resource commons and tool library for students, parents and educators, fletcherporet.com. His new website doubles as an access point to his latest academic and consulting services or to be personally matched with a tutor through 1 st Principles Learning.
In 2026, Mr. Korfhage-Poret will also release a book that details his educational philosophy for bringing agency back into learning in the modern world. "Learning How to Learn, Again" outlines a five-part approach to education, including the foundations of learning, taking ownership of learning, safe AI-human learning strategies, cooperative intelligence and reciprocal learning. Each is paired with practical tools that parallel those on his website. His goal is to prepare students for a future where technology and AI support and enhance, rather than abate or replace, human learning and development.
A Commitment to Family and Career
Outside his professional work, Mr. Korfhage-Poret enjoys traveling, exploring nature, playing tennis, reading and collecting historical knowledge, including ancient learning strategies and mathematical practices. He has also been deeply devoted to family, having spent 2022-2024 taking care of his mother before her untimely passing and his father, who suffered a stroke shortly after.
Throughout his career, Mr. Korfhage-Poret has earned recognition for his ability to guide students who might otherwise struggle within traditional education systems. His personalized approach and commitment to executive functioning skills have helped countless students achieve academic success and carry their learning strategies into adulthood. Looking ahead, he plans to continue developing forward-looking methods to responsibly prepare and adapt human education to whatever innovations and challenges are faced as the current technological and AI revolution unfolds.
