Sony Electronics Announces the Launch of XYN's "Spatial Capture Solution" for Professionals Generating High-Quality 3DCG Assets from Real-World Spaces
Suite of Three Powerful Software Options Streamline Creative Workflows Including Virtual Production
SAN DIEGO, April 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Electronics' XYN™(/Zin/)'s spatial capture solution, which creates high-quality 3DCG (3D Computer Graphics) assets, is expected to be available to professional customers in the United States starting summer 2026 1. The first release of this solution comprises three software tools: the smartphone application 2 "XYN Spatial Scan Navi" to assist with shooting spatial content 3; the cloud application "XYN Spatial Scan" for generating real-world spaces as high-quality 3DCG assets; and the rendering plugin "XYN Spatial Renderer Plugin" for achieving high-quality, stable image display.
XYN, an integrated suite of software and hardware solutions supporting spatial content creation, was announced in January 2025.
The spatial capture solution supports capturing, generating, and utilizing 3DCG assets optimized for virtual production in film, drama, and commercial production. It enables the efficient use of production-quality photorealistic 3DCG assets designed for use with large LED walls and real-time rendering environments in virtual production.
Future plans include expanding multi functions and applications beyond virtual production, aiming for broader adoption in fields like gaming, animation, architecture, manufacturing, digital twins, and cultural heritage archiving. Furthermore, it will roll out plugins and services designed to integrate with standard 3DCG production tools and game engines across industries, contributing to the creation of seamless workflows.
