Senior Grandmaster Runner and Adaptive Athlete Qualify as Duo Team for the 2026 Boston Marathon 63-Year-Old Runner Pushes Cerebral Palsy Individual at the 2026 Boston Marathon

BOSTON, MA / ACCESS Newswire / April 14, 2026 / Marathon runner and volunteer guide athlete Mark Hulsey has set an ambitious goal alongside his racing partner Moses "Mo" Cooper: cross the finish line of the 2026 Boston Marathon together on April 20.

To earn a place at the starting line, Hulsey and Cooper had to qualify as an official Adaptive Duo Team, meeting the same time standards required of solo runners in their age group. There are no adjusted qualifying standards for pushing a racing wheelchair. Competing in the 60-64 age group, Hulsey needed to complete the full 26.2 miles while pushing Cooper in under 3 hours and 50 minutes in order to qualify to submit their application to the Boston Athletic Association (BAA).

At 63 years old, Hulsey is considered a Senior Grandmaster runner. Through his volunteer work with My Team Triumph Minnesota, he met Cooper and his mother, Karen. When the idea of attempting to qualify for Boston together was raised, both embraced the challenge. Mark is also the Founder and Managing Broker of Results Commercial, a commercial real estate investment boutique based out of St. Paul, MN.

Hulsey founded Results Commercial Inc in 2003. Today, Results Commercial is a leading Commercial & Investment Real Estate Boutique. 1000's of commercial real estate deals closed, over 30 years in Minnesota, Florida & Wisconsin. Best-in-class financial analysis, sales & marketing strategies, and transaction management.

Now 24, Cooper has faced significant medical challenges throughout his life. He lives with Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Delay, chronic pain, and Restrictive Lung Disease caused by severe scoliosis. Cooper primarily uses a wheelchair for mobility but is able to walk short distances with the assistance of a gait trainer.

Together, Hulsey and Cooper represent a growing movement of athletes and volunteers around the world promoting inclusion in endurance sports for individuals with disabilities. For Hulsey, a nationally competitive marathon runner within his age group, racing alongside Cooper in their Hoyt Running Chair donated by AdaptX has become one of the most meaningful parts of his running career.

Competing under the name Team Flash Mo, the duo qualified for Boston at Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota in June 2025, finishing in 3 hours and 18 minutes. The performance secured their acceptance to the 2026 Boston Marathon as an official Adaptive Duo Team.

Hulsey began marathon running at age 60 and has since completed the Chicago, Boston, and New York City Marathons multiple times, along with numerous other races where he regularly finishes among the top competitors in his age division. His personal best at the Boston Marathon is 3:04, and he has competed in the International Marathon Championships in recent years. In addition to racing with Cooper, Hulsey also serves as a guide runner for visually impaired athletes and regularly pushes other disabled athletes in races.

For Cooper, the experience of racing is about far more than competition. The energy of thousands of cheering spectators and the freedom of movement that comes with racing creates a powerful and emotional experience.

Cooper's smile as he and Hulsey race together has become a defining image for supporters who follow their journey. Their partnership reflects a deep bond built on trust, friendship, faith, and a shared determination to inspire others.

Supporters can cheer on Team Flash Mo as they take on one of the world's most iconic races at the Boston Marathon on April 20, 2026.
