Sunshine Silver Mining & Refining Appoints Mike Patterson as Vice President of Investor Relations and Corporate Development
KELLOGG, Idaho, Sept. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Sunshine Silver Mining & Refining Company (the "Company" or "Sunshine") (NYSE: SSMR), a mining company advancing the next chapter of American silver, today announced the appointment of Mike Patterson as Vice President of Investor Relations and Corporate Development. In this role, Mr. Patterson will lead the Company's investor relations program, support engagement with the capital markets and help evaluate strategic opportunities as Sunshine advances the planned restart of the Sunshine Mine.
Mr. Patterson will report to the Chief Executive Officer, Heather White, and is expected to join the Company on September 16, 2026.
"Mike brings a valuable combination of technical mining experience, investment expertise and corporate development perspective," said Heather White, Chief Executive Officer of Sunshine Silver Mining & Refining. "His comprehensive understanding of mining operations and capital markets will be particularly important as we communicate our progress, deepen relationships with investors and analysts, and advance the work required to return one of America's most iconic silver mines to production."
Mr. Patterson brings extensive experience across mining operations, private equity, business development and corporate strategy. He began his career as a mining engineer with Luminant and Rio Tinto after earning a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.
He later spent eight years with Resource Capital Funds, a global mining-focused private equity investment firm, where he evaluated investments and strategic opportunities across the mining sector. Mr. Patterson subsequently served as Business Development Manager at KoBold Metals and, most recently, as Vice President, Investor Relations and Business Development at Ivanhoe Electric Inc.
"I am very excited to join Sunshine at an important stage in the Company's development," said Mr. Patterson. "The Sunshine Mine is a truly unique U.S. silver asset – of the highest-grade and with a rich operating history – and excellent growth potential. I look forward to working with the leadership team to communicate the Company's progress, expand engagement with the investment community and advance strategic opportunities available to Sunshine to amplify shareholder value."
Mr. Patterson's appointment further strengthens Sunshine's leadership team as the Company advances the planned return of the Sunshine Mine to production in late 2028 and its broader vision for domestic silver and other critical minerals production.
