Prime Power Unveils 8-Gigawatt Behind-the-Meter Power Portfolio Targeting Tier-One Data Center Markets
Five-project active pipeline with several dozen sites under development anchored by the company's flagship Texas Titan #01 Project positions Prime Power to deliver rapid, utility-independent power to hyperscale, AI, and cloud operators facing multi-year grid interconnection delays, while maintaining grid connected optionality.
HOUSTON, TX / ACCESS Newswire / April 27, 2026 / Prime Power Inc., a behind-the-meter power generation and infrastructure platform serving the digital economy, today announced a five-project development pipeline totaling approximately eight gigawatts of scalable generation capacity. Every project in the portfolio is sited in close proximity to tier-one Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and U.S. metropolitan areas, positioning Prime Power to serve hyperscale data center operators, AI compute platforms, and enterprise cloud providers where power demand is concentrated and grid capacity is most constrained.
The portfolio is anchored by Texas Titan #01, the company's previously announced flagship project, structured for an initial capacity of one gigawatt with scalability to two gigawatts. Texas Titan #1 sits approximately 30 minutes south of Dallas inside the Dallas-Fort Worth digital ecosystem, where data center operators and hyperscalers including CyrusOne, Nexus, and Google already operate or are developing major facilities. The project is the first notice-to-proceed-ready asset in Prime Power's portfolio.
Metro-Proximate, Not Stranded
Many behind-the-meter developments currently marketed to the data center sector are sited in remote, low-cost land markets far from compute demand centers. Prime Power's strategy is different. Every project in the eight-gigawatt pipeline is positioned within the commercial and fiber corridors that major metro data center clusters depend on, offering hyperscale customers dedicated power without requiring them to build in stranded geographies.
"There are a lot of large power projects being marketed today that sit hours from the nearest compute cluster. Ours don't. Every site in our portfolio is in close proximity to a major metro in Texas and Oklahoma, and every site carries at least a gigawatt of capacity with the ability to scale further based on customer need. That combination is genuinely rare," said Daniel Atherton, Chief Executive Officer of Prime Power Inc. "We built this portfolio to match where AI and cloud workloads actually are."
Responding to a Multi-Year Grid Interconnection Gap
The announcement comes as data center operators face an increasingly constrained path to grid power. ERCOT, the grid operator in Texas, had more than 238,000 megawatts of large load interconnection requests across 391 projects in its queue as of March 2026, with an estimated 75 percent of those requests attributable to data centers. Industry consensus currently places grid connection timelines at five to seven years or longer in many regions, a mismatch that is driving hyperscale operators to pursue dedicated on-site generation.
Prime Power's behind-the-meter approach is designed to deliver operating power in 18 to 24 months, with the capability to scale to multi-gigawatt applications. Each project in the portfolio pairs natural gas generation with battery energy storage and advanced microgrid controls, allowing fully islanded operation without reliance on the local electric grid. The company has secured firm gas, generation equipment, and engineering design for Texas Titan #01, with additional portfolio assets advancing through development.
"Speed to power is the single most important variable in this market. If you can't deliver electrons to an operator inside of two years, you're not in the conversation," said Pervez Siddique, Chief Development Officer of Prime Power Inc. "We built the portfolio deliberately. Five projects, eight gigawatts, all near the metros where AI compute needs to live, all backed by the capital and equipment positions required to execute. This is a platform, not a single site."
Execution Team and Capital Backing
Prime Power's founding team brings approximately 50 years of combined leadership experience across energy infrastructure, power generation, and project development. The company is backed by a private equity fund based in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area that serves as the sponsor behind each of the portfolio's five projects, providing the financial foundation to secure equipment, gas supply, and interconnection positions well ahead of customer commitments.
Texas Titan #01 remains the portfolio's first notice-to-proceed-ready asset, with the remaining four projects advancing through various stages of development. Prime Power anticipates disclosing additional details on individual projects as each reaches commercial and permitting milestones.
